God also Bearing Witness with Signs and Wonders

THE GOAL OF THE WRITER OF HEBREWS

1. To present the Lord Jesus Christ in as full and complete a manner as possible

2. To present the Lord Jesus Christ fulfilling the following: –

a) As the unique Son of God   (Hebrews 1)
i) The express image of God
ii) Co-Creator
iii) The Living Word of God
b) As greater than the angels of God   (Hebrews 1)
c) As greater than Moses   (Hebrews 3)
d) As greater than the Aaronic priesthood   (Hebrews 5)

GOD’S ENDORSEMENT OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

1. Jesus came preaching a great salvation   (Hebrews 2:3)

a) The Apostles bore witness
b) Many whose lives were changed also bore witness

2. God Himself bore witness of the Person and Ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ

a) Signs
b) Wonders

3. Extension of God’s witness through the Apostles

a) Various miracles
b) Gifts of the Holy Spirit

APPROPRIATE RESPONSE

1. To give more earnest heed to the things heard

2. To prevent the problem of drifting away

3. To avoid the Divine judgment that would surely come one day
