BY AWESOME DEEDS IN RIGHTEOUSNESS

Text: Psalm 65

THE AWESOME DEEDS OF GOD

To the wise and discerning, the works of God may indeed be described as “awesome!” The Psalmist David made a short list of the awesome deeds of God in Psalm 65.

  1. With reference to the earth

a) God visits it

b) He waters it

c) He enriches it     Psalm 65:9

  1. With references of the cultivation of grain

a) He prepared the ground

b) Furrows are made

c) Showers are given

d) The fields are blessed     Psalm 65:9-10

  1. The blessings of the Lord

a) God crowns the year with His goodness

b) His paths drip with abundance

c) The pastures and the hills rejoice in God’s blessings

ON A MORE PERSONAL NOTE

The Psalmist David also observed how God had blessed on a more personal note.

  1. The problem of iniquity and transgressions

a) God will provide atonement

b) He will forgive

c) He will absolve our sins

d) He will reconcile and restore

  1. The Prayers that we offer

a) He hears our prayer

b) He will answer our prayers

APPROPRIATE RESPONSE

How should we respond to such a great and mighty God? David offered this word.

Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion;

And to You the vow shall be performed.

 

Blessed is the man You choose,

And cause to approach You,

That He mad dwell in Your courts.

We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house,

 Of Your holy temple.                                                   Psalm 65:1, 4

  1. Let there be great praising of the Lord.
  1. Let all vows made to the Lord be fulfilled.
  1. Let there be great satisfaction with the goodness of the Lord.
