M. CHALLENGE TO SET THE MIND ON CHRIST
Colossians 3:1-5

1. Logical ramifications

a) If one is raised with Christ
Then there should be seeking the things which are above
Where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God (Colossians 3:1)

b) Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth (Colossians 3:2)

c) For you died (Colossians 3:3a)

d) Your life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3b)

2. When Christ returns

a) He will appear again (Colossians 3:4a)

b) We will appear with Him in glory (Colossians 3:4b)

N. CONSISTENCY IN FAITH AND LIFE
Colossians 3:6-4:5

a) Faith and Life must be matched

b) Challenge to put to death the following: – (Colossians 3:5-7)

i) Fornication

ii) Uncleanness

iii) Passion

iv) Evil desire

v) Covetousness (idolatry)

vi) Disobedience

vii) The former lifestyle

c) Put off (Colossians 3:8-9)

i) Anger

ii) Wrath

iii) Malice

iv) Blasphemy

v) Filthy language

vi) Lying

vii) Put off the old man with his deeds

d) Put on (Colossians 3:10-14)
As the elect of God, holy and beloved (Colossians 3:10)

i) The new man

ii) Renewed in knowledge

iii) According to the knowledge of God who created him

iv) True equality
(No Greek, Jew, circumcised, uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free)

v) Tender mercies

vi) Kindness

vii) Humility

vii) Meekness

viii) Longsuffering

ix) Bearing with one another

x) Forgiving one another even as Christ forgave

xi) Put on love- the bond of perfection

xii) Let the peace of God rule in the heart

xiii) Our calling in one body (the pursuit and practice of peace)

xiv) Being thankful

a) The word of Christ

i) Not merely a verse or two

ii) His Person

iii) His Power

iv) His Presence

v) His Promises (His teachings)

b) Dwell

i) To reside

ii) To domicile

iii) To indwell

iv) To permeate

c) Richly

i) Rich in faith (James 2:5)

ii) Heirs of the kingdom (James 2:5)

iii) Riches of liberality (2 Corinthians 8:2)

iv) In wisdom (Colossians 3:16)

d) Results (Colossians 3:16-17)

i) Teaching

ii) Admonishing (counselling)

iii) Singing with grace to the Lord (Psalms, hymns, spiritual songs)

iv) Word/ deed

v) Everything done in the name of the Lord

vi) Giving thanks to God the Father through Christ
