A Prayer For Vindication

A PRAYER FOR VINDICATION

1. A just cause brought to the Lord   (Psalm 17:1)

2. A prayer for vindication   (Psalm 17:2)

PROBLEMS FROM WICKED ENEMIES

1. Those who rise up to oppose   (Psalm 17:7)

2. The wicked who oppress   (Psalm 17:9)

3. Wicked enemies   (Psalm 17:9)

OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE WICKED

1. They have fat hearts   (Psalm 17:10)

Prosperous people

2. They speak proudly   (Psalm 17:10)

3. They surround the righteous   (Psalm 17:11)

4. They eye the upright   (Psalm 17:11)

a) Compared to lions   (Psalm 17:12)
b) Young lions lurking in secret places

5. Their wealth

a) This comes from the Lord
b) They have much of life’s treasures
c) They have children who will inherit their wealth

CHECKING OUR HEARTS

1. The heart will be tested   (Psalm 17:3)

2. The Lord will test the heart

In unguarded moments   (Psalm 17:3)

3. Diligent sense of purpose to be found innocent   (Psalm 17:3-4)

a) No transgression of the mouth
b) Kept away from the path of the destroyer
c) In obedience to the Lord’s word

PRAYERS OFFERED TO THE LORD

1. To be upheld in God’s paths   (Psalm 17:5)

2. That the footsteps would not slip   (Psalm 17:5)

3. Pleading with God for prayer to be heard   (Psalm 17:6)

a) Prayer not taken for granted
b) Trust that God will hear

4. Prayer to be saved from the wicked   (Psalm 17:7)

a) Through God’s marvellous lovingkindness shown
b) Trust in God that He will not fail His people

5. Prayer for preservation   (Psalm 17:8)

a) Keep as the apple of His eye
b) Hide under the shadow of His wings

FIRM FOCUS ON THE LORD

1. He will see God’s face in righteousness   (Psalm 17:15)

2. Satisfied to be in the likeness of God   (Psalm 17:15)
