The Greater Light To Rule The Day

The perpetual rising of the sun each day is nothing less than reflective of the supreme and intelligent design of a great God. Every day, without fail, the sun will rise. And it will bring light and life to a dark world. This was something that God had set in order from the beginning of time.
Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night….” Gen. 1:14
Then God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. He made stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness.” Gen. 1:16-18
God created the sun and the moon to bring about a division between the day and the night. The sun as we know rules by day and the moon by night. Can you imagine how many times the sun has risen on the earth since the beginning of time?
SIGNS, SEASONS, DAYS, YEARS
And let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years…” Gen 1:14
What is the purpose of having day and night? It is meant to help us tell time. Firstly, they can help us tell signs and seasons of the year. The movement of the earth in relative to the sun and the orbit of the moon can bring about changes in weather. This, in turn, gives us the different seasons of the year. Secondly, it also helps us to tell time in term of years. The cycle of four different seasons helps us to know that a year has gone after each cycle. Truly, it is amazing how the Lord had created the sun to help us tell time.
As we come towards the end of another year in two months time, let’s take stock of how the year has been. Have we used our time wisely? The apostle Paul wrote these words about time.
See then that we walk circumspectly not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Eph. 5:16
The challenge for us is to live our life carefully and not waste time as fools. We are to wisely redeem time (Make full use of every opportunity) because we are living in challenging days where evil seemed to abound. We have two more months before the year ends. Let’s ensure we use our time wisely for the Lord and end the year well.
