THE WORD “WALK”

1. The significance of the word “walk”

a) Literally
Ambulation

The way we conduct our life

2. Old Testament influence

a) Blessed are the undefiled who walk in the law of the LORD (Psalm 119:1)
b) They walk in His ways (Psalm 119:3)
c) Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly (Psalm 1:1)

3. New Testament reference (especially Pauline)

a) Walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4)
b) Who do not walk according to the flesh (Romans 8:1)
c) But (walk) according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1)

4. The challenge to live worthily as believers

a) Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called (Ephesians 4:1)
b) Walk in love (Ephesians 5:2)
c) Walk as children of light (Ephesians 5:8)
d) Walk circumspectly (Ephesians 5:15)
e) Walk in Him (Colossians 26)

NO CONDEMNATION

1. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1)

a) We have been justified by faith (Romans 5:1)
b) We have peace with God (Romans 5:1)
c) We have access to God by faith (Romans 5:2)

2. Vital things to check

a) Who do not walk according to the flesh (Romans 8:1)
b) But according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1)
c) The Spirit of God is our Seal and Guarantee (Ephesians 1:13-14)
The true believer is not one who merely confesses “faith in Christ”
Not everyone who calls “ Lord, Lord” (Matthew 7:21-23)
