RISING ABOVE OUR DOUBTS
Struggling with doubts is something many Christians face. When we are stuck in a situation for some time and there does not seem to be an answer from the Lord, it is easy to be caught up with the negative thoughts and doubts that come. The servant of the Lord can also end up with such a predicament. This was something that Jeremiah the prophet faced.
Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the prison…” Jer. 33:1
Jeremiah was struggling with being incarcerated at this point of time. Even after the Lord had interacted with him about how His prophecy concerning the return of the Israel would be fulfilled, there were still doubts. He was still in prison and could not think beyond his situation. The challenge was for Jeremiah to rise above his doubts and to pray beyond his current circumstances.
CALL TO ME AND I WILL ANSWER YOU
Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jer. 33:3
- Praying with confidence in the Lord and His word
The word from the Lord to Jeremiah was to call upon Him and He would answer Him. Jeremiah need not give in to his doubts. The challenge was to have full confidence in the Lord that He would indeed hear and answer his prayers according to His word. Let’s learn to pray according to His will that we too can have the confidence that He would hear and answer prayer.
- Praying with the greatness of God in mind
When God answers a prayer, it is not just with our prayer item in mind. There would be the revelation of His greatness as in the case of Jeremiah. The Lord told Jeremiah to think out of his current problem and look at the greatness of God. The Lord God would still do great and mighty things which Jeremiah had not seen. What an encouragement! Let’s also learn to see beyond our difficulties in school and family. Let’s pray with faith that the Lord can do exceedingly above all that we ask or think (Eph. 3:20) according to His will.
