3. The work of the Judges

a) To judge the cases brought to them

b) They are to give true judgments   (Deuteronomy 16:18)

VITAL WARNING

1. Not to pervert justice   (Deuteronomy 16:19)

2. Not to show partiality   (Deuteronomy 16:19)

3. Not to take bribes   (Deuteronomy 16:19)

a) It blinds the eyes of the wise

b) It twists the words of the righteous

COMMANDMENT TO BE HEEDED

1. Follow what is altogether just   (Deuteronomy 16:20)

2. For all judges and officers

SEVERE WARNING AGAINST IDOLATRY

1. No wooden image near an altar   (Deuteronomy 16:21)

2. No sacred pillar… this is hated by the LORD   (Deuteronomy 16:22)
