Moses vs Jesus

Text: John 1:17-18

“For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
No one has seen God at any time.
The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the father, He has declared Him.”

John 1:17-18

MOSES

1. He was the most outstanding servant of God in the Old Testament.

2. The Law of God was given through him by the Lord God.

3. Israel was taught much; the Law was at the heart of the beliefs of the nation!

4. You can read and learn about what Moses did and taught (Exodus – Deuteronomy).

JESUS CHRIST

1. Jesus is presented side by side with the most significant of God’s servants.

2. John’s focus was to present Jesus as One who was even more outstanding than Moses!

SPECIAL FEATURES ABOUT JESUS

1. He is the only begotten Son of God

a. He is God’s unique Son.
b. He is described aptly as “the only begotten Son”.
c. In comparison to all children of God.
i. We are “adopted children” into God’s family.
ii. We are given this privilege of being God’s children out of sheer grace.
iii. We have to be taught how to relate to God the Father.
d. With Jesus
i. His Sonship is an Eternal One.
ii. He is uniquely called “Son” even though He is fully Deity (divine).
e. Grace and Truth
i. Jesus did not just teach about grace. He was “Grace” personified.
ii. Jesus did not just teach truth. He was “Truth” personified.

2. He has declared the Father

a. Only the unique Son of God can fully explain what God is like.
b. Only the only-begotten Son of God can reflect the fullness of the grace and glory of the Lord!

耶稣的特点

1.祂是上帝的独生子

a. 祂是上帝独一无二的儿子
b. 祂被恰当地描述为 “独生子”
c. 与所有上帝的儿女相比
i. 我们是上帝家庭里 “被收养的儿女”
ii. 因为恩典，我们才有荣幸成为上帝的儿女
iii. 我们必须被教导如何与天父互动
d. 与耶稣
i. 祂为儿子的名分是永恒的
ii. 即使祂完全是神（神圣），祂也被称为 “儿子”
e. 恩典和真理
i. 耶稣不只是教导恩典。祂是 “恩典” 的体现
ii. 耶稣不只是教导真理。祂是 “真理” 的体现

2.祂表明祂的父

a. 只有上帝独一无二的儿子才能完全解释上帝
b. 只有上帝的独生子才能反映上帝的恩典和荣耀的丰盛！
