The Teachings of Jesus

Text: John 3:12-13

“If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.”

John 3:12-13

THE TEACHINGS OF JESUS

The Teachings of Jesus are found in the Gospels. They may indeed be divided into two broad categories:

1. “Earthly things”

a. Things pertaining to life on earth.

b. These were good, relevant and wonderful words of wisdom.

i. How to be sincere and true and not hypocritical (Matthew 5).

ii. How not to worry (Matthew 6).

iii. Building a strong foundation for life (Matthew 7).

2. “Heavenly things”

a. Things pertaining to heaven.

b. Clear examples:

i. Becoming children of God through faith in Jesus (John 1:12).

ii. Seeing the Kingdom of God through being born again (John 3:3).

iii. Being born again through the work of the Holy Spirit (John 3:5-9).

THE LIMITED UNDERSTANDING OF NICODEMUS

Nicodemus did not fully comprehend who Jesus truly was.

1. He admitted that Jesus must have been a Teacher sent by God (John 3:2).

2. How else could Jesus have performed miraculous signs? (John 3:2)

THE TRUE IDENTITY OF JESUS REVEALED TO NICODEMUS

1. He was indeed sent by God.

2. But not in the common sense of the word.

a. Prophets were seen as people who had been sent by God.

b. But their origins were from earth.

3. Jesus as the Son of Man.

a. He was fully Man.

b. But His origin was from heaven! He had come from heaven to teach divine truths from God!

尼哥底母有限的理解

尼哥底母并没有完全了解耶稣的身分。

1. 他承认耶稣必定是上帝所差遣来的师博《约翰福音 3: 2》

2. 否者耶稣如何能行神迹呢？《约翰福音 3: 2》

耶稣真实的身分向尼哥底母显明了

1. 祂的确是上帝差遣来的

2. 不过不是差遣的普遍意思

a. 先知被视为上帝所差遣来的

b. 可他们来自地上

3. 耶稣是人子

a. 他完完全全是人

b. 可祂来自天上！祂是为了教上帝神圣的真理而从天降下的！
