The challenge to have the mind of Christ
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,” (Phil 2:5
1. Paul looked to the Lord Jesus as an example to the brethren
2. The challenge is to know the mind of Christ
a. It is the mind that Christ possessed…that was in Him
b. He manifested this mindset through His life
i. Through the things He taught
ii. Through how He lived His life
3. The mindset of Christ
a. A mind to empty one’s self(kenosis) (Phil 2:7)
b. A mind to be humble as a bondservant (Phil 2:7,8)
c. A mind to be obedient to the end (Phil 2:8)
4. The command is given for the mind of Christ to be in us
a. His mind should be what we want to possess also
b.Let us think the thoughts that Christ thought
5. Reasons for this
a. One mindset to follow
b. To develop a greater sense of oneness
c. To demonstrate what Paul had just taught…lowliness of mind (Phil 2:3,4)
