THE WONDERFUL PROMISES OF GOD

Text: Jeremiah 30

BLESSINGS FOUND IN THE WORD OF GOD

The Scriptures are wonderful in more ways than one. Psalm 19:7-11 beautifully describe how the Lord’s word may be such a source of blessing to the heart.

  1. It converts the soul
  1. It makes wise the simple
  1. It rejoices the heart
  1. It enlightens the eyes
  1. It gives warning of danger
  1. In the keeping of the word of God there is great reward

THE PROMISES OF GOD

Found within the Scriptures are the wonderful promises of God. This is well-exemplified Jeremiah 30:18-22. The following promises may be highlighted:

  1. Restoration of health     Jeremiah 30:17
  1. Healing of wounds     Jeremiah 30:17
  1. Bringing Israel back to its homeland     Jeremiah 30:18
  1. Rebuilding of Israel     Jeremiah 30:18-19
  1. Multiplying of the people     Jeremiah 30:19
  1. Glorifying of the people     Jeremiah 30:19
  1. He will establish the nation     Jeremiah 30:20
  1. He will raise up significant leaders     Jeremiah 30:21

APPROPRIATE RESPONSES

How should we make appropriate responses to all these things we read? Let us consider the following thoughts:

  1. There should be a great sense of thanksgiving Jeremiah 30:19
  1. There should be merry celebration of the Lord’s promises Jeremiah 30:19
  1. There should be a determination to draw near to the Lord
  1. There should be a pledging of the heart to respond to the Lord as He draws His people near to Himself

THE COVENANTS OLD AND NEW

A key thought in both the Old and New Covenant may be found in this text.

You shall be My people

And I will be Your God.     Jeremiah 30:22

  1. Let there always be a spirit of joy in being “God’s people!”
  2. Let us seek to express joy in having the Lord as our God!
