REJOICE IN THE LORD

REJOICING IN THE LORD
The call to rejoice in the LORD God is found again and again in the Book of Psalms. Psalm 33 is one of them.
Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous!
For praise from the upright is beautiful. Psalm 33:1
REASONS FOR REJOICING IN THE LORD
The Psalmist listed a number of reasons why the righteous may rejoice in the Lord.
- Because of the word of God Psalm 33:4a
a) By the word of the LORD the heavens are made Psalm 33:
b) By His word the seas are made too Psalm 33:7
c) He spoke and it was done
d) He commanded and it stood fast Psalm 33:9
- His work is done in truth Psalm 33:4b
- The earth is full of the goodness of the LORD Psalm 33:5
- The counsel of the LORD stands forever Psalm 33:11
- The eye of the LORD
a) Is on those who fear Him Psalm 33:18a
b) On those who hope in His mercy Psalm 33:18b
c) To deliver them from death
d) And to keep them alive in famine
These are mighty reasons indeed for us to rejoice in the LORD.
APPROPRIATE RESPONSES
What would be appropriate responses to the Lord God?
- Let us wait on the LORD Psalm 33:20a
a) He is our help
b) He is also our shield Psalm 33:20b
- Let us rejoice in the Lord
a) Because we have trusted in His holy name Psalm 33:21
b) Because we may plead His mercy Psalm 33:22a
c) Because we may hope in Him Psalm 33:22b
Let us practise rejoicing in the Lord and praising Him always!
