Mixed Comprehension from the Multitudes
Text: John 12: 29
MIXED COMPREHENSION FROM THE MULTITUDES
The voice of God came from heaven. Thus, it was audible. How did it sound to all who heard that Divine Voice?
“Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, ‘An angel has spoken to Him.’”
John 12:29
1. The Divine Voice of God
a. This was seldom heard.
b. The Scriptures record only a few occasions when God allowed His voice to be heard.
i. The LORD spoke to the children of Israel at Mount Sinai.
ii. He was giving them the Ten Commandments.
iii. Then the people were frightened (Exodus 19-20).
2. The Divine Voice of God
a. Psalm 29 was especially composed.
b. The theme of this Psalm was “The voice of the LORD”.
c. It sought to highlight the power and majesty of God’s voice.
3. “The people who stood by”
a. They were not attuned to hear God’s voice.
b. This was a very short word.
c. If they had not been very attentive, they would not be able to understand what was said.
4. Two opinions were given
a. It was likened to the sound of thunder.
i. This group of people had no clear understanding of what was said.
ii. To them, it was like a clap of thunder.
iii. It was very loud but nothing could be deciphered.
b. “Others said”
i. This was more of a guess.
ii. They did not see an angel appearing.
iii. They figured that God may have sent an angel.
This special opportunity to understand the voice of God was lost to the crowd!

众人不同的理解
上帝的声音来自天上,因此大家都听见了。但众人又是怎么去理解呢?
“站在旁边的众人听见,就说:‘打雷了。’还有人说:‘有天使对他说话。’”
