Manifesting Of The Name Of God

Text: John 17: 6

MANIFESTING OF THE NAME OF GOD

One of the key things Jesus focused on was to “manifest” the name of God. This was a very challenging task that Jesus sought to fulfil.

“I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.”

John 17:6

1. “I have manifested Your name”

a. The following are nuances that are associated with the word “manifest”:

i. To give light

ii. To make clear

iii. To reveal

iv. To show clearly

b. The name of God was revealed by the LORD to Moses (Exodus 34:5-7).

c. Many features to take note of:

i. Merciful

ii. Gracious

iii. Longsuffering

iv. Abounding in goodness and truth

d. Jesus manifested God’s name

i. By His life.

ii. By His teachings.

2. “To the men whom You have given Me out of the world”

a. This is a reference to all His true Disciples.

b. They were once from the world.

c. But they came out of the world and followed Jesus.

3. “They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word”

a. Jesus acknowledged them as a gift from God.

b. He had faithfully taught them God’s word.

c. The Word of God was manifested to these Disciples.

d. They had learned to keep His word.

2. “你从世上赐给我的人”

c. 但他们从世上被上帝赐给耶稣，跟随祂

3. “他们本是你的，你将他们赐给我，他们也遵守了你的道”

a. 耶稣认知门徒们是上帝所赐的

b. 祂真诚地教导他们上帝的话语

c. 上帝的话语在这些门徒前显明

d. 他们学了坚守祂的话语
