c) Olive trees will also die

2. Locust-like enemy

a) Enemies may be like locusts   (Deuteronomy 28:41-42)

b) Children will go into captivity   (Deuteronomy 28:41)

3. Aliens in the land

a) They will go higher and higher   (Deuteronomy 28:43a)
Israel will go lower and lower   (Deuteronomy 28:43b)

b) Aliens will lend
Israel will borrow   (Deuteronomy 28:44a)

c) Aliens will be the head
Israel will be the tail   (Deuteronomy 28:44b)

THESE PUNITIVE CURSES

1. They will come upon Israel   (Deuteronomy 28:45a)

2. They will pursue and overtake   (Deuteronomy 28:45b)

3. Finally, Israel will be destroyed   (Deuteronomy 28:45c)

REASONS FOR THESE CURSES

1. Because of disobedience   (Deuteronomy 28:45d)

a) Israel did not keep His commandments and statutes   (Deuteronomy 28:45e)

b) They will be for a sign and wonder   (Deuteronomy 28:45f)

c) Descendants will be affected   (Deuteronomy 28:46)

2. Because of the poor spirit in serving the LORD

a) There was no joy

b) There was no gladness of heart   (Deuteronomy 28:47)

c) Despite the abundance of everything given   (Deuteronomy 28:47)
