DEEP HUMAN CONCERN

The Apostle Paul had many friends and disciples who loved him dearly. They were deeply concerned that he was planning to go to Jerusalem.

  1. The prophet Agabus gave a word of prophecy concerning Paul

a) The Jews at Jerusalem would bind Paul

b) He would then be delivered to the Gentiles     Acts 21:11

  1. Well-meaning friends

a) They pleaded with Paul

b) They asked him to avoid going to Jerusalem     Acts 21:12

A STRONG RESPONSE

The Apostle Paul’s reply is truly worth noting.

“What do you mean by weeping

And breaking my heart?

For I am ready not only to be bound,

But also to die at Jerusalem

For the name of the Lord Jesus.”     Act 21:13

  1. Breaking my heart

a) Paul was deeply moved

b) The tears of his friends broke his heart

c) He felt their love profoundly

  1. I am ready

a) Paul had readied himself all his life

b) He would serve the Lord no matter the cost

c) He had already suffered much for Christ

d) He had been beaten and had been jailed

  1. Ready to be bound

a) He had counted the cost

b) He knew that his enemies would do anything in their power to oppose him

c) He was prepared to be bound and sent to jail

  1. Ready to die for the name of the Lord Jesus

a) Paul loved his Master

b He was prepared to walk in the steps of the Lord fully

c) He was prepared to die for the Lord Jesus Christ

What a wonderful example we have in the Apostle Paul. Let us seek to emulate his example!
