Text: Genesis 12: 17-20
MEDITATION
Genesis 12:17-20
17 But the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.
18 And Pharaoh called Abram and said, “What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?
19 Why did you say, ‘She is my sister’? I might have taken her as my wife. Now therefore, here is your wife; take her and go your way.”
20 So Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they sent him away, with his wife and all that he had.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

2. Pharaoh’s interview with Abram
a. He was very upset and angry with Abram.
b. He rebuked Abram for not declaring that Sarai was his wife.
c. He could have taken Sarai as his wife.
He was obviously afraid of more severe plagues that could be sent to his household.
3. Banished from Egypt
a. Pharaoh sent Abram and Sarai and all they had from the land of Egypt.
b. The sojourn in Egypt ended drastically.
IMPORTANT LESSONS LEARNED
1. God was there to give His protection, despite human weakness and sinfulness.
2. Abram and Sarai had learned a vital lesson about the need to exercise faith in God.
To rely on cunning and deception was not the way of the faithful!
