MEDITATION

Genesis 14:5-7

5 In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him came and attacked the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
6 and the Horites in their mountain of Seir, as far as El Paran, which is by the wilderness.
7 Then they turned back and came to En Mishpat (that is, Kadesh), and attacked all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who dwelt in Hazezon Tamar.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. The reprisal led by Chedorlaomer

a. The uprising had to be put down forcibly.
b. Chedorlaomer led an army to war against the rebels.

2. A successful campaign

a. Chedorlaomer successfully defeated the rebels.
b. He conquered even more nations.
c. His kingdom had spread even farther.
c. The rebelling nations named earlier were defeated (Genesis 14:2).
d. In addition, other nations and tribes were also conquered:
i. The Rephaim
ii. The Zuzim
iii. The Emim
iv. The Horites
v. The Amalekites
vi. The Amorites
These groups were not mentioned earlier. Chedorlaomer now ruled a larger kingdom.
