Text: Genesis 15: 4-6
MEDITATION
Genesis 15:4-6
4 And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.”
5 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”
6 And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. “The word of the LORD came to him”
a. This word was God’s reply to Abram’s query.
b. This was an important word that Abram needed to understand full.
i. Eliezer would not be the designated heir.
ii. Though this was possible legally, this was not God’s plan.
2. A thrilling promise
a. God brought Abram outside his tent.
b. He was asked to gaze at the sky.
i. A huge number of stars may be seen on a clear night.
ii. The innumerable number of stars would be Abram’s descendants.
3. Abram’s journey of faith
a. He had seen how God protected him from Pharaoh when he went to Egypt.
b. He had also seen how God blessed him with wealth.
c. God’s hand of protection and deliverance was obvious in his battle against Chedorlaomer and his allies.
d. Abram’s heart was moved to believe in the LORD and His Word.
e. His faith in the LORD was noted. He was declared “righteous” before God!

5 于是领他走到外边,说:“你向天观看,数算众星,能数得过来吗?”又对他说:“你的后裔将要如此。”6 亚伯兰信耶和华,耶和华就以此为他的义。
