PULPIT OUTLINE
MORNING WORSHIP 5 April 2020
Text: 1 Peter 2
Title: “A Living Stone”
THE SIGNIFICANT PLACE OF FAITH
1. Through faith
Who are kept by the power of God
Through faith for salvation to be revealed in the last time1 Peter 1:5
2. Yet believing
Whom having not seen you love,
Though you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible
And full of glory1 Peter 5:8
A SIGNIFICANT FAITH IS ONE THAT IS ALIVE
Significant statements in 1 Peter using the word “living”
1. A living hope
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope
Through the resurrect of Jesus Christ from the dead.1 Peter 1:3
2. A living Word
Having been born again, n0t of corruptible seed but incorruptible,
Through the word of God which lives and abides forever1 Peter 1:23
It is the Spirit that gives life;
The flesh profits nothing.
The words that I speak to you are Spirit and lifeJohn 6:63
3. A living stone (1 Peter 2:4)
Coming to Him as to a living stone,
Rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious.1 Peter 2:4
THE OBVIOUS DANGER OF A DEAD FAITH
1. Faith by itself without works is dead (James 2:17)
2. Faith without works is dead (James 2:20)
3. Body without the spirit is dead
So, faith without works is dead also (James 2:26)
THE SIGNIFICANT PLACE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
