“And Teach Me…”

WAITING ON THE LORD TO TEACH
One important principle that we cannot do without today is learning to wait on the Lord. With the Covid-19 outbreak becoming worse and things in Singapore are slowly having more and more restrictions, it is crucial that we learn and practise this principle especially with reference to seeking His guidance.
For you are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day….” Psalm 25:5
Each one of us must seek to learn to be still and to wait.
1. Waiting on the Lord patiently
2. Waiting on the Lord daily to teach us.
3. Waiting on the Lord throughout the day
This was something that King David sought to do. He was going through a most difficult time and he had prayed for the Lord to teach and guide him. He knew that he had to humbly wait on the Lord of his salvation each day to interact and to guide him.
A PRAYER FOR THE LORD TO TEACH US WHATEVER HE WANTS
Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths, lead me in Your truth and teach me….” Psalm 35:4-5
1. General ways, specific ways, the way of truth
These were things that the Psalmist had prayed from the Lord. He wanted the Lord to show him His general ways, to teach His specific paths and to lead him in the way of truth.
2. Being taught whatever God wants to
And yet, after making such prayers, he prays for the Lord to teach him further. This time, there is no definite noun to describe what he wanted the Lord to teach him. In fact, this last part of this prayer seemed to be “hanging in the air”. This last request in these two verses was one of leaving things to God to teach. Because he did not want to take anything for granted, he left his prayer request open-ended. He wanted God to teach him whatever He wanted.
PERSONAL APPLICATION
Young people, we are living in times that are truly uncertain and becoming challenging. Let’s learn to wait on the Lord for His guidance and deliverance. Let’s humbly ask the Lord to teach us whatever He wants.
