Text: Genesis 27: 13-17
MEDITATION
Genesis 27:13-17
13 But his mother said to him, “Let your curse be on me, my son; only obey my voice, and go, get them for me.”
14 And he went and got them and brought them to his mother, and his mother made savoury food, such as his father loved.
15 Then Rebekah took the choice clothes of her elder son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them on Jacob her younger son.
16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats on his hands and on the smooth part of his neck.
17 Then she gave the savoury food and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Rebekah’s response to the fear of Isaac’s curse
a. She would bear the curse if Isaac were to pronounce it.
b. Technically, this may not be possible.
c. But Rebekah was willing to risk everything that Jacob might receive the blessing.
2. Rebekah’s insistence
a. She was very forceful and wanted Jacob to obey her.
b. Jacob’s part was to take the two kids from the flock of goats.
c. Jacob obeyed his mother.
3. Preparation to see Isaac
a. She made a savoury dish from the goats.
b. She also took the clothes of Esau and put them on Jacob.
c. She used the skins of the goats to cover:
i. The hands of Jacob.
ii. The neck of her younger son, Jacob. If Isaac wanted to be sure that it was Esau who was before him.
4. Jacob was then sent to present Isaac with the food
a. A savoury goat dish.
b. Bread was also brought along.

14 他便去拿来交给他母亲,他母亲就照他父亲所爱的做成美味。
15 利百加又把家里所存大儿子以扫上好的衣服给她小儿子雅各穿上,
16 又用山羊羔皮包在雅各的手上和颈项的光滑处,17就把所做的美味和饼交在他儿子雅各的手里。
