Text: Genesis 28: 16-17

MEDITATION

Genesis 28:16-17

16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.”
17 And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!”

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. Waking up from this dream

a. God had spoken to Jacob in a special dream given to him.
b. But this was not an ordinary dream that human beings have.

2. Spiritual understanding came

a. Jacob realized that that he was in the presence of God.
b. He had not realised it earlier.

3. More comments

a. His understanding grew further.
b. This was not an ordinary place, as he had thought.
c. This was a place of awe.

4. Still further comments

a. He felt that he had come into “the house of God”.
b. This was where one may find the LORD.
c. In this great house of God, He was attended to by many angels.

5. Concluding comments

a. This was the gate of heaven itself.
b. He was at the very gate of heaven!

SPIRITUAL AWAKENING

Jacob had been cunning, scheming and wicked in his behaviour towards his twin brother and father! He had done wrong things because he had not known God personally earlier. This was an important turning point in his life. This was his spiritual awakening.

16雅各睡醒了，说：“耶和华真在这里，我竟不知道！”

17就惧怕，说：“这地方何等可畏！这不是别的，乃是神的殿，也是天的门。”

在生活里有意义地应用

1. 从梦中睡醒

a. 上帝通过特别的梦与雅各沟通
b. 这不是一般人的梦

2. 属灵中的见解

a. 雅各发现上帝与他同在
b. 这是之前没有发觉的

3. 雅各的见解

a. 他的见解增长
b. 这不是他之前以为一般的地方
c. 这地方何等可畏

4. 更深的见解

a. 他觉得自己进入“神的殿”
b. 这是寻找上帝的地方
c. 在上帝伟大的殿中有许多天使服侍着祂

5. 终结词

a. 这是天的门
b. 他来到了天门！

属灵中唤醒

雅各一直都非常狡猾，罪恶地对待自己的双胞胎哥哥与父亲！他行了那么多错事因为他还没有认识上帝。这是他生命中重要的转捩点。他在属灵中苏醒。
