Learning To Wait On The Lord

PRAY, TRUST AND WAIT
One of the challenges of life is learning how to wait as we go through prolonged difficult situations. Very often, we want problems to be resolved quickly so that we can carry on with our daily life. And yet, there are times when they do not. David was going a time when he was deeply concerned about his situation in life. There were enemies who were seeking to triumph over him. In addition, there were his struggles with his own sins. It was in this trying time that he practised waiting on the Lord. In another Psalm, David saw God as a wonderful shepherd who has been leading him (Psalm 23). The Lord God is also King over all the earth (Psalm 24). He is the triumphant King of glory. It is to this Lord that he turns to.
To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in You;…” Psalm 25:1-2
Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed…” Psalm 25:3
Waiting on the Lord is built on the basis of exercising of faith. First, the Psalmist sought to exercise faith by lifting up his soul in prayer to Him. Prayer is a soul-felt thing. Second, he sought to trust the Lord for the future. Third, he declared that no one should be ashamed who waits on the Lord. At this point of time, David was still learning to wait on God. He determined that he would as he exercised faith. He was seeking to make that which was theoretical into fact.
PRAYING AND WAITING DAY BY DAY FOR THE LORD TO TEACH US
Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths, lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of salvation; on You I wait all the day…” Psalm 25:4-5
As David waited on the Lord, he sought Him to teach him His ways. The Lord God is the perfect Teacher anyone could wish for. He can teach us at all kinds of levels: General understanding of His ways, His specific paths and the establishing of His truths and beyond. The Lord can lovingly correct us and show us that His way is far better than our own way. He can teach us everyday because He is good and upright. Our part is to humbly seek Him day by day, wait and learn from Him.
As we face the extension of another month with reference to the circuit breaker, let this period be a journey of learning from the best teacher you can ever have…GOD. Let’s look forward to daily learning from Him from the word of God, and discovering how great He is through the devotions and emails that Pastor writes. Let’s learn to day by day seek the Lord as our Teacher, waiting on Him and learning from Him. This can be a defining time of deep learning and growing in faith in the Lord for us.
