"The Sun of Righteousness shall arise"

Text: Malachi 4:2

THE RIGHTEOUS

On the other hand, when the LORD judges all, He would spare the righteous!

“‘But to you who fear My name
The Sun of Righteousness shall arise
With healing in His wings;
And you shall go out
And grow fat like stall-fed calves.
You shall trample the wicked,
For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet
On the day that I do this,’
Says the LORD of hosts.”
Malachi 4:2-3

1. “To you who fear My name”

a) These were already noted. Malachi 3:16

b) They belong to the Lord as His jewels. Malachi 3:17

2. “The Sun of Righteousness”

a) The Messiah would be called “The Sun of Righteousness”.

b) He would help and heal the righteous.

3. The blessings of the LORD

a) They were compared to well-fed calves.

i) Taken care of carefully.

ii) Looked after well.

iii) They become “fat” (but not in the bad sense of the word).

b) They will triumph over the wicked.

i) They will trample the wicked.

ii) They tread under their feet those who used to oppress them in the past.

4. “On the day that I do this”

a) Judgment day would be terrible for the proud and the wicked.

b) But the righteous has every reason to look forward to the Coming of the LORD.
