CREATE IN ME A CLEAN HEART

The heart is sullied by sin’s intrusion;

It needs to be made clean by ablution.

The loss incurred is truly heavy;

The heart must plead God’s mercy.

But more than cleansing must be sought;

The desire to remain clean must be caught.

A new heart must be created by God;

The spirit must be renewed by the Lord.

The fear that God might depart is very real;

Then His presence we would not feel.

This is a frightening thought indeed;

Full restoration is what we must seek.

There are many who take sin too lightly;

Forgiveness must be received gratefully.

The Spirit of God must, our heart, uphold;

Then would out hearts never be cold.
