Text: Exodus 2:11-12; Hebrews 11:23-25

MEDITATION

Exodus 2:11-12

11 Now it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out to his brethren and looked at their burdens. And he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12 So he looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

Hebrews 11:23-25

23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command.
24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. The childhood of Moses

a. He grew up as the son of the daughter of Pharaoh.

b. At one point he came to have faith in God.

i. He refused to be called the son of the Pharaoh’s daughter.

ii. He rejected all the riches and pleasures of Egypt.

2. Moses as an adult

a. He was among “his brethren”.

b. They were slaves but he felt for them deeply.

3. An Egyptian taskmaster

a. He was beating a Hebrew slave.

b. Moses felt for the poor slave as “a brother”.

4. He looked around

a. He did not see anyone.

b. He went to the rescue of the Hebrew slave.

c. He fought with the Egyptian taskmaster.

d. He killed the taskmaster. But in so doing Moses had broken the law.

11 后来，摩西长大，他出去到他弟兄那里，看他们的重担，见一个埃及人打希伯来人的一个弟兄。

12 他左右观看，见没有人，就把埃及人打死了，藏在沙土里。

《希伯来书11：23-25》
23 摩西生下来，他的父母见他是个俊美的孩子，就因着信，把他藏了三个月，并不怕王命。
24 摩西因着信，长大了就不肯称为法老女儿之子。

25 他宁可和神的百姓同受苦害，也不愿暂时享受罪中之乐。

在生活里有意义地应用

1. 摩西的童年

a. 他以法老女儿之子的身份成长

b. 在某个时候，他在主里找到了信心

i. 他不愿意被称为法老女儿之子

ii. 他拒绝了埃及所有的荣华富贵

2. 摩西早期的成年生平

a. 他在他“弟兄”当中

b. 他们是奴仆，不过摩西与他们有深切的认同感

3. 一位埃及督工

a. 他在打一位希伯来奴仆

b. 摩西把那无助的奴仆视为“弟兄”

4. 他环顾四周

a. 他没看见任何人

b. 他拯救了那希伯来奴仆

c. 他与埃及的督工相打

d. 他杀了埃及督工。但摩西因此犯了法。
