MEDITATION
Exodus 6:4-5
4 I have also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, in which they were strangers.
5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered My covenant.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Understanding why the children of Israel were so discouraged
a. Because of the hardship they were enduring.
b. Because of a lack of knowledge of God.
c. Because of a lack of faith in the LORD.
d. Because of a lack of personal experience with God.
2. Important knowledge to teach the children of Israel
a. God has established His covenant with them (through their forefathers).
b. The land of Canaan was promised to Abraham and then confirmed twice, with Isaac and Jacob.
i. This was called “the land of pilgrimage”.
ii. They were strangers in the land.
c. The suffering of the children of Israel.
i. God had heard their groaning.
ii. He knows that Egypt had kept them in bondage.
iii. Their sorrows had not gone unnoticed by the LORD.
c. The Covenant that God had given
i. He had not forgotten the Covenant.
ii. He has remembered it.
iii. God was promising that He would fulfil what He had promised.
iv. The children of Israel must be patient as they wait upon God.
