Text: Exodus 12: 12-14

MEDITATION

Exodus 12:12-14

12 ‘For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
13 Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
14 ‘So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

a. God will pass through the land of Egypt.

b. He will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt.

i. Man

ii. Beast

c. He will judge all “the gods of Egypt”.

i. Egypt believed in many gods.

ii. The Egyptians believed that these were powerful gods.

d. He will demonstrate that He is the LORD

i. With supreme power and authority.

ii. The so-called gods of Egypt would be proven to be powerless.

2. The symbol of Blood

a. It would be a sign over the household.

b. When God sees the sign, He will pass over that household.

c. The plague would not destroy the firstborn of the believing household.

3. A Memorial

a. The Passover would be a Memorial.

b. It is to be a Feast to the LORD for all generations.

c. It would be an everlasting ordinance.

The Passover is kept by Israel to this very day!

12 因为那夜我要巡行埃及地，把埃及地一切头生的，无论是人是牲畜，都击杀了，又要败坏埃及一切的神。我是耶和华。
13 这血要在你们所住的房屋上做记号，我一见这血，就越过你们去，我击杀埃及地头生的时候，灾殃必不临到你们身上灭你们。
