MEDITATION
Exodus 23:29-30
29 I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you.
30 Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. God’s plans revealed
a. The Lord explained how He would help Israel to settle in the land of Canaan.
b. He would personally be involved in the conquest of the land.
2. A time feature explained
a. The land cannot be conquered in one year.
b. The children of Israel would not be able to cope with a quick conquest.
c. Problems would arise.
i. The land can become desolate.
ii. The beasts of the field would multiply and become too numerous.
They would become a serious problem.
3. Measured progress
a. “Little by little”
i. One enemy tribe at a time.
ii. The Lord would drive them out of the land of Canaan.
b. Israel
i. The nation must increase.
ii. There would be a larger population to cope with the development of the nation.
iii. They would finally inherit the entire land of Canaan as the Lord had promised.
4. What would be needed?
a. Understanding of God’s wise plan.
b. Faith to trust the Lord.
c. Patience to wait.
d. Perseverance to see things through.
