PERSONAL APPRECIATION FOR THE GREAT LOVE OF GOD
There is nothing more pleasant than to discover the love of God. It is something that we all can understand and appreciate. This greatness of God’s love was explained by the Lord Jesus as He spoke to Nicodemus about salvation. He was seeking to help him find a personal faith in Him.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” John 3:16
The love of God element was almost missing in Jewish thinking at that point of time. The Lord Jesus took the time to elucidate on what the extensiveness of His love is. The love of God is most sacrificial. God’s only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus, is most precious to Him. He is the One who is closest to our Father in heaven (John 1:18). And yet, He loves us so much that He was willing to give to the world the One who is most precious and dearest to Him. He gave His only Son to reach the world and to die for her, which is the ultimate expression of His sacrificial love. His love is simply amazing and glorious. Such love goes beyond human comprehension! When we seek to appreciate His love deeply, it can become very personal and real to us.
PERSONAL FAITH IN THE LORD JESUS
That whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
The emphasis in this verse is the person who genuinely believes in the Lord Jesus. The purpose behind understanding and appreciating the love of God is so that we can have faith in the Lord. The amazing love of God should touch our hearts and should cause us to respond with sincere faith in Him. When we truly believe in Him, there is no more condemnation. The Lord Jesus was sent into the world to not condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:17). This is the wonderful hope that we can have in the Lord Jesus Christ. There can be the assurance in having everlasting life in heaven. Young people, let’s truly believe in the Lord Jesus. God loves us with an amazing love. We can have this sense of hope and joy in the Lord because of this everlasting life. Let’s believe in Him with all our heart and soul.
