Text: Exodus 40: 17-33

MEDITATION

Exodus 40:17-33

17 And it came to pass in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was raised up.
18 So Moses raised up the tabernacle, fastened its sockets, set up its boards, put in its bars, and raised up its pillars.
19 And he spread out the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent on top of it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
20 He took the Testimony and put it into the ark, inserted the poles through the rings of the ark, and put the mercy seat on top of the ark.
21 And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, hung up the veil of the covering, and partitioned off the ark of the Testimony, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
22 He put the table in the tabernacle of meeting, on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the veil;
23 and he set the bread in order upon it before the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
24 He put the lampstand in the tabernacle of meeting, across from the table, on the south side of the tabernacle;
25 and he lit the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
26 He put the gold altar in the tabernacle of meeting in front of the veil;
27 and he burned sweet incense on it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
28 He hung up the screen at the door of the tabernacle.
29 And he put the altar of burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered upon it the burnt offering and the grain offering, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
30 He set the laver between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar, and put water there for washing;
31 and Moses, Aaron, and his sons would wash their hands and their feet with water from it.
32 Whenever they went into the tabernacle of meeting, and when they came near the altar, they washed, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
33 And he raised up the court all around the tabernacle and the altar, and hung up the screen of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.

MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE

1. Moses’ personal touch

a. Bezalel and Aholiab made the Tabernacle artefacts with the help of assistants (though not mentioned).

b. Moses was the one who personally saw to the details of setting up of the Tabernacle.

c. The “he” in this passage of Scripture is a reference to Moses and his personal touch.

d. Understandably, Moses was deeply involved in every detail.

2. Moses finished the work

a. God gave the plans for the Tabernacle to Moses.

b. Moses’ part:

i. He called the children of Israel together.

ii. He explained the Tabernacle project.

iii. He appointed Bezalel and Aholiab.

iv. He kept in touch with the progress of the work.

c. Finishing the work:

i. He took the Stone Tablets (“The Testimony”) and put it in the ark.

ii. He set the shewbread on the Table.

iii. He lit the first lamps (Lampstand).

iv. He set up the golden altar.

v. He burned sweet incense.

vi. He offered to the Lord a burnt offering.

vii. The Laver was set up for the washing/ purification of the priests.

3. As the LORD commanded

a. In doing all these things, Moses was showing the priests how they were to go about doing things.

b. As the LORD commanded, so Moses obeyed fully.

c. Moses’ part was important as an example to the priests.

《出埃及记 40:17-33》
17第二年正月初一日，帐幕就立起来。
18摩西立起帐幕，安上带卯的座，立上板，穿上闩，立起柱子，
19在帐幕以上搭罩篷，把罩篷的顶盖盖在其上，是照耶和华所吩咐他的。
20又把法版放在柜里，把杠穿在柜的两旁，把施恩座安在柜上。
21把柜抬进帐幕，挂上遮掩柜的幔子，把法柜遮掩了，是照耶和华所吩咐他的。
22又把桌子安在会幕内，在帐幕北边，在幔子外，
23在桌子上将饼陈设在耶和华面前，是照耶和华所吩咐他的。
24又把灯台安在会幕内，在帐幕南边，与桌子相对，
25在耶和华面前点灯，是照耶和华所吩咐他的。
26把金坛安在会幕内的幔子前，
27在坛上烧了馨香料做的香，是照耶和华所吩咐他的。
28又挂上帐幕的门帘。
29在会幕的帐幕门前，安设燔祭坛，把燔祭和素祭献在其上，是照耶和华所吩咐他的。
30把洗濯盆安在会幕和坛的中间，盆中盛水，以便洗濯。
31摩西和亚伦并亚伦的儿子在这盆里洗手洗脚。
32他们进会幕或就近坛的时候，便都洗濯，是照耶和华所吩咐他的。

33在帐幕和坛的四围立了院帷，把院子的门帘挂上。这样，摩西就完了工。

在生活里有意义地应用

1. 摩西个人的参与

a. 比撒列和亚何利亚伯以及其他的工匠制造了帐幕的物品

b. 摩西亲自看顾立成帐幕的细节

c. 经文里的“他”指的是摩西和他个人的参与

d. 摩西理所应当地看顾每一个细节

2. 摩西完成了工作

a. 上帝将建立帐幕的计划交托给摩西

b. 摩西的责任：

i. 他召集以色列的子民

ii. 他解释了建造帐幕的工程

iii. 他委任比撒列和亚何利亚伯

iv. 他不断地看顾工作的进展

c. 完成工作

i. 他将法版放在柜里

ii. 他将陈设饼放在桌上

iii. 他点起灯 （灯台）

iv. 他烧了馨香料

v. 他将燔祭献给上帝

vi. 他将洗濯盆安在会幕和坛的中间，以便洗濯祭司。

3. 照上帝所吩咐

a. 摩西以身作则，为祭司立下了遵行上帝吩咐的榜样

b. 摩西完全照着上帝的吩咐而行

c. 摩西个人的参与成为祭司们的重要榜样
