Text: Luke 7: 44-50

A CANDID CONVERSATION

1. The Lord Jesus addressed Simon (Turning to the woman)

a. No water
i. When the Lord Jesus entered Simon’s house.
ii. It was customary to provide water to wash the feet of a guest.
iii. “You gave Me no water for My feet” Luke 7:44a
b. Tears of the woman as water.
i. Tears are precious.
ii. They reflect depth of feelings.
iii. “But she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair of her head.” Luke 7:44b
c. A welcome kiss (cheek to cheek)
i. This was customary too.
ii. It expresses regard and affection.
iii. “You gave Me no kiss” (Luke 7:45a.
d. Kissing the feet of the Lord Jesus.
i. She would not dare to offer a kiss to the Lord Jesus.
ii. “But this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in.” (Luke 7:45b)
e. Anointing oil

i. It was customary to offer some oil to refresh a guest.

ii. “You did not anoint My head with oil” (Luke 7:46a)

f. Fragrant oil
“But this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil.” Luke 7:46b

i. The anointing oil is applied on the head.

ii. The woman anointed the feet of the Lord Jesus instead.

iii. She knew how unworthy she was!

2. Important lessons

a. The many sins of the woman.
“Her sins which are many, are forgiven”
Luke 7:47a
i. Simon was right, the woman was sinful.
ii. He just despised her for her sinfulness.
iii. The Lord Jesus chose to forgive instead.
b. Love for the Lord:
i. Simon had no love for the Lord to speak of.
ii. He was too self-righteous to have a high regard for the Lord.
iii. “She loved much” Luke 7:47b
(Because her many sins were forgiven) {Luke 7:48a}
iv. “But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.” (Luke 7:47b)
This is so true!
c. Direct word to the woman.
“Your sins are forgiven”
Luke 7:48
d. The people at the table said:
“Who is this who even forgives sin?”
Luke 7:49
They had failed to understand the Parable!
e. Another word to the woman.
“Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”
Luke 7:50
i. These were words of deep affection.
ii. Her faith in the Lord was affirmed wonderfully.

2. 重要的教训

a. 女人的许多罪
“她许多的罪都赦免了”
《路加福音 7：47a》
i. 西蒙是对的，那个女人是有罪的

iii. 主耶稣则选择饶恕
b. 对主的爱：
i. 西门对主没有爱可言
ii. 他太自以为是，对主没有至高的尊重

iv. “但那赦免少的，他的爱就少。” 《路加福音 7：47b》

d. 同席的人说：
“这是什么人，竟赦免人的罪呢？”
《路加福音 7：49》
他们无法理解这个比喻！
e. 对这女人说的另一句话
“你的信救了你，平平安安地回去吧！”

ii. 她对主的信心得到了美妙的肯定
