"Concerning the house of the king of Judah"

Text: Jeremiah 21:11

A LAST WORD TO THE HOUSE OF THE KING

The Judgment of the LORD had been pronounced against King Zedekiah and the royal house that he represents. Kings in the ancient days tended to appoint family members to high positions in the royal court. Those who were in power often abused their authority.

“And concerning the house of the king of Judah, say,
‘Hear the word of the LORD,
O house of David! Thus says the LORD:
‘Execute judgment in the morning;
And deliver him who is plundered
Out of the hand of the oppressor,
Lest My fury go forth like fire
And burn so that no one can quench it,
Because of the evil of your doings.””
Jeremiah 21:11-12

ii) To the oppressed.

3. “Lest My fury go forth like fire and burn so that no one can quench it, because of the evil of your doings”

a) But this was not the case!

b) The house of David had failed to uphold justice.

i) Evil was perpetrated.

ii) The oppressors and plunderers were not brought to justice.

c) The fury of the Lord was stirred up against the house of David.

d) Like a furious fire God’s judgment would burn so fiercely, no one can quench it!
