My Song In The Night (Gospel of Luke)
Text: Luke 14: 12-14
A GREAT CHALLENGE
“Then He also said to him who invited Him, ‘When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbours, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.’”
Luke 14:12-14
1. This word was directed to the host, a ruler of the Pharisees (Luke 14:1).
2. The people who were probably invited to attend this Feast:
a. Family
b. Fellow Pharisees
3. These were hinted at:
a. Brothers
b. Relatives
c. Friends
d. Rich neighbours (Luke 14:12)
4. This was not wrong in itself.
a. But the host would be “repaid”.
b. He would be invited to special celebrations.
5. A different set of guests to Feasts (Luke 14:13):
a. The poor
b. The maimed
c. The lames
d. The blind
These would never be able to repay the host in any way!
6. A glorious Blessing
a. This would come from the Lord.
b. The reward would be given at “The Resurrection of the Just” (Luke 14:14).
a. 家人
b. 亲属
c. 朋友
b. 残废的
