My Song In The Night (Gospel of Luke)
我夜间的歌曲《路加福音》
Text: Luke 15: 8-10
A SERIES OF PARABLES
1. Luke 15 records three Parables told by the Lord Jesus.
a. The Parable of the lost sheep.
b. The Parable of the lost coin.
c. The Parable of the lost (prodigal) son.
2. These Parables were told for the following reasons:
a. To help the Pharisees and scribes learn how to see sinners better.
b. To help the listeners to understand the Lord Jesus and His Mission better too.
THE PARABLE OF THE LOST COIN
“Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbours together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’ Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Luke 15:8-10
1. The silver coin
a. It may have been a special ornamental coin.
b. It could well have been a wedding present that held sentimental value.
c. It could have been a necklace or an ornament worn on the head.
d. It could have come loose and then became lost.
2. The search for the lost coin.
a. A relentless search was launched.
b. The lost coin was finally found.
3. The Joy of the woman.
a. She held a party for her friends and neighbours.
b. Such was her joy to find the lost coin!
JOY IN HEAVEN
1. The angels in heaven rejoice.
2. When a sinner repents and returns to God.
3. This was the vital Mission of the Lord Jesus:
a. To reach out to sinners.
b. To urge them to repent.
c. To help them return to God.
There should be great joy felt instead of indignation!
经文: 路加福音 15:8-10
