A VISION OF A GLORIOUS KINGDOM
Text: Daniel 7
6 March 2022
THE BOOK OF DANIEL
The Book of Daniel was in part historical. It was also in part prophetic.
- The historical part is not difficult to understand
a) It traces the meteoric rise of Daniel in the Babylonian kingdom
b) Daniel was an outstanding administrator Daniel 1-3
- The prophetic part is more challenging to understand
a) God gave to Daniel visions of the world empires
i) Babylonians
ii) Medes and Persians
iii) Greece
iv) Romans
b) History bears out the accuracy of these prophecies
i) The kingdoms came about as God revealed to Daniel
ii) God was in absolute control of the world at large
THE VISION OF A GREAT AND EVERLASTING KINGDOM
None of the worldly kingdoms stood the test of time. One empire was destroyed and replaced by another kingdom!
Daniel was given a prophetic Vision of an eternal kingdom.
13 “I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.
14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed. Daniel 7:13-14
- The Son of Man
This is identified as the Lord Jesus Christ
- The Kingdom to be given to Him
a) It is called a “dominion”
b) It is an “everlasting dominion”
c) It cannot be destroyed
