Text: Luke 16: 27-31

THE PARABLE OF THE RICH MAN AND LAZARUS III

1. There were many important lessons the Lord Jesus sought to teach people.

2. There were many who were caught up with seeking wealth.

3. The Lord Jesus warned of being so caught up with this world that we forget about eternal matters.

THE DESPERATE PLEA OF THE RICH MAN

1. He understood what Abraham had said to him.

a. There was great gulf between heaven and hell.
b. One cannot cross between these two regions.

2. His concern turned to his brothers who were still alive.

a. The rich man had five brothers (Luke 16:28a).
b. He asked that Lazarus would go and testify to them and perhaps they would be saved (Luke 16:28b).
c. He feared that they would end up in the same place of torment (Luke 16:28c).

THE REPLY OF ABRAHAM

1. God had given them the Scriptures.

2. The phrase “Moses and the prophets” (Luke 16:29a).
This is another way of describing the Bible.

3. The remaining five brothers must take the time to read and to respond to the Scriptures (Luke 16:29b).

THE FURTHER PLEA OF THE RICH MAN

1. He knew his brothers well enough.

2. They would not read nor heed the Scriptures.

3. But if Lazarus were to speak to them then they would repent (Luke 16:30).

THE FIRM RESPONSE OF ABRAHAM

1. The answer was still No!

2. If they do not heed “Moses and the prophets,” neither would they need one raised from the dead (Luke 16:31).

3. If they refuse to heed God’s word (The Scriptures) their future would be very grim indeed!

b. 他要拉撒路对他们作见证，或许他们会得救《路加福音 16：28b》

c. 他担心他们也会来到这个痛苦的地方《路加福音 16：28c》

亚伯拉罕的答复

1. 上帝已给了他们圣经

2. “摩西和先知的话”代指圣经《路加福音 16：29a》

3. 其余的五个弟兄需要花时间阅读经文，对圣经作出反应《路加福音 16：29b》

财主进一步哀求

1. 他非常了解他的弟兄

2. 他们不会阅读或谨听经文

3. 但如果拉撒路警劝他们，他们会悔改《路加福音 16：30》

亚伯拉罕的坚定答复

1. 亚伯拉罕的答复还是否定的！

2. 如果他们不听从“摩西和先知的话”，他们也不会听从一个从死里复活的人的话《路加福音 16：31》

3. 如果他们不听从上帝的话语（经文），他们的未来将会非常严峻！
