Text: Luke 17: 5-6

THE PLACE OF FAITH

1. Faith is an important thing to understand.

2. The place of faith is of great significance.

a. By faith we receive the Lord Jesus as our Saviour.
b. By faith we learn to relate to God.
c. By faith we learn to follow the Lord’s leading.
d. By faith we serve our great God.

INCREASE OF OUR FAITH

1. The Apostles of the Lord Jesus heard His teaching on Forgiveness.

a. They knew how hard it was to exercise forgiveness.
b. They knew what must be sought.

“And the apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith.’”

Luke 17:5

2. They knew that their current faith was:

a. Limited.
b. Not strong or deep enough to be able to forgive as the Lord had taught.

THE RESPONSE OF THE LORD JESUS

So the Lord said,

“If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”

Luke 17:6

1. Faith must not be taken for granted.

a. Many assume that having knowledge is the same as having faith.
b. Many assume that they have a strong faith.
c. These assumptions need to be addressed and corrected.

2. Faith as a mustard seed.

a. A mustard seed is very small.
b. Yet, even a small faith can have large impact!
i. If that faith is genuine.
ii. If that faith is properly applied.
c. Faith can cause a mulberry tree to be transplanted in the sea!
i. This seems to be an impossible thing to do
ii. The Lord was teaching the Apostles that faith can accomplish things that seem to be impossible
iii. It is possible to practise forgiveness all the time as He had taught

信心的重要

1. 我们得理解信心是一件重要的事

2. 信心是很重要的

a. 因着信，我们接受主耶稣为我们的救主

b. 因着信，我们学会和上帝建立关系

c. 因着信，我们学习跟随主的带领

d. 因着信，我们事奉我们伟大的上帝

加增我们的信心

1. 主耶稣的使徒听了祂有关饶恕的教训

a. 他们知道要实践饶恕是很难的事

b. 他们知道自己必须寻求什么

“使徒对主说：‘求主加增我们的信心！’”

《路加福音 17：5》

2. 他们知道他们当时的信心：

a. 有限

b. 不够强也不够深，无法实践主耶稣教导的饶恕

主耶稣的反应

主说：

“你们若有信心像一粒芥菜种，就是对这棵桑树说：‘你要拔起根来，栽在海里！’，它也必听从你们。”

《路加福音 17：6》

1. 不可以把信心视为理所当然的

a. 很多人以为拥有知识就等于拥有信心

b. 很多人以为自己有坚强的信心

c. 这些错误的观念都该被纠正

2. 信心像一粒芥菜种

a. 芥菜种非常小

b. 然而，即使再小的信心都可以有很大的影响力！

i. 若那信心是真实的

ii. 若那信心适当地应用

c. 信心可以使一棵桑树移植到海里！

i. 这看似不可能的事

ii. 主耶稣在教导使徒，信心是可以完成看似不肯能的事

iii. 祂所教导的饶恕是可以时时实行的
