Text: Luke 22: 49-51
UNCERTAIN HOW TO RESPOND
“When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, ‘Lord, shall we strike with the sword?’ And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. But Jesus answered and said, ‘Permit even this.’ And He touched his ear and healed him.”
Luke 22:49-51
1. The Disciples saw what was happening.
2. They were not sure how they should respond.
3. Their question.
“Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
a. They had only two swords.
b. How far would they go when they faced a multitude of armed and hostile enemies?
4. Before the Lord could answer.
a. One of the Disciples used a sword to attack the multitudes.
b. He managed to cut off the ear of one of the servants of the high priest.
c. The situation could erupt and become violent.
5. The Lord Jesus had to step in swiftly.
a. He urged His disciples to let His arrest be done.
b. He would not want them to use the sword to fight.
i. He had preached peace and not war.
ii. He had healed and not harmed anyone.
6. Healing the ear of an enemy.
a. The Lord Jesus restored the ear of the servant of the High Priest.
b. He was absolutely calm amidst the highly charged atmosphere.
c. His time spent in prayer had strengthened Him significantly.

a.祂敦促祂的门徒由得祂被逮捕
b.祂不希望他们用刀来作战
i.祂宣扬的是和平而不是战争
ii.祂只治愈而没有伤害过任何人
6.治好一个敌人的耳朵
a.主耶稣治好了大祭司仆人的耳朵
b.在充满激情的气氛中,祂绝对平静
c.祂花在祷告上的时间大大增强了祂的力量
