My Song In The Night (Vital Doctrines)
我夜间的歌曲《重要教义-救恩》
Text: Galatians 2: 1-3
MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me. And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain. Yet not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.”
Galatians 2:1-3
CONTINUING WITH PAUL’S TESTIMONY
1. Paul went to Jerusalem after 14 years.
2. The team was made up of:
a. Paul
b. Barnabas
c. Titus was with them
3. Who was Titus?
a. He was a true spiritual son of the Apostle Paul (Titus 1:4).
b. He may be compared with Timothy, also a true son (1 Timothy 1:2).
c. Titus was Greek (Galatians 2:3).
4. Why did Paul go to Jerusalem?
a. He went by “revelation” from God.
b. The Lord gave instruction to Paul to visit in Jerusalem:
i. Paul spoke publicly to the church in Jerusalem.
ii. He also spoke privately to some who were of reputation.
iii. Paul was making a reference to the church leaders in Jerusalem.
c. He wanted to share his ministry among the Gentiles.
i. So that all may understand the validity of this Gentile ministry.
ii. If there is no understanding or support, all the work put in may be “in vain”.
6. The matter of Circumcision:
a. This was a core and vital practice among the Jews.
b. But in the Church, this practice of circumcision was not insisted upon.
c. There was no demand made on Titus to be circumcised!
