My Song In The Night (Vital Doctrines)
我夜间的歌曲《重要教义-救恩》
Text: Galatians 3: 17-18
MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect. For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.”
Galatians 3:17-18
THE LAW CANNOT ANNUL THE COVENANT
1. The LORD gave a Covenant to Abraham.
2. The Law came four hundred and thirty years late.
3. The Covenant given to Abraham long before the Law came in.
FEATURES OF THE COVENANT THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO NOTE
1. God made a number of promises to Abraham.
a. That all nations would be blessed through his Seed.
b. That Seed was none other than a reference to the Lord Jesus Christ.
2. The coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
a. It confirmed God’s covenant.
b. The Law cannot annul the promise God had given.
3. The promise of an inheritance.
a. God promised the land of Canaan as an inheritance to Abraham’s descendants.
b. But the word “inheritance” is far greater than just the physical land.
c. In the Lord Jesus Christ, all believers have an inheritance promised to them.
d. The Law cannot annul the promise of an inheritance by the LORD.
4. If the inheritance came by the law:
a. Then it is not of promise.
b. But the covenant God gave to Abraham was made by a promise.
5. Significant texts about the “inheritance” God has promised all believers?
a. In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will (Ephesians 1:11).
b. To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you (1 Peter 1:4).
6. Our Inheritance in essence:
a. It is spiritual.
b. It is eternal.
c. It is heavenly (as opposed to an earthly inheritance).
d. It is incorruptible (as opposed to all earthly inheritance that fades away).
7. Some features to rejoice the heart:
a. Our being called “children of God”.
b. Our being given the Holy Spirit to indwell us.
c. The many precious promises of God given to His children who love Him.
