My Song In The Night (Vital Doctrines)
我夜间的歌曲《重要教义-救恩》
Text: Galatians 3: 26-27
MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
Galatians 3:26-27
SONS OF GOD
1. The teaching about becoming “sons of God” came from the Lord Jesus Christ.
“He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
John 1:10-13
a. The Lord Jesus came into the world.
i. The world came about through Him.
ii. But the world did not know (acknowledge Him).
b. The Lord Jesus came to His own.
i. This is a reference to His ministry in Israel.
ii. But Israel did not receive Him.
c. But to all who did receive the Lord Jesus Christ
i. He gave to every believer the right to become “children of God”.
ii. Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ enables the believer to be called “sons of God”.
d. The basis of this privilege:
i. It is not through any human agency or authority.
ii. It is made possible simply “by the will of God”.
2. Confirmation of this teaching.
The Apostle Paul confirms that we are sons of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
3. The place of Baptism
a. Paul added another teaching.
b. He introduced the teaching of “baptism”.
i. Baptism does not make people become children of God.
ii. Faith is the basis of our becoming “sons of God”.
c. Baptism enables us:
i. To be identified with the Lord Jesus Christ.
ii. Paul describes baptism as a garment we put on.
iii. In baptism we are clothed anew.
iv. We are clothed with the Lord Jesus Christ!
