"The glory of His majesty"

Text: Isaiah 2:21

THE GLORY OF THE LORD

That the LORD is full of majesty is without question. The very Being of God is full of majesty! This is a thought that is worth keeping close to our heart!

“In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver
And his idols of gold,
Which they made, each for himself to worship,
To the moles and bats,
To go into the clefts of the rocks,
And into the crags of the rugged rocks,
From the terror of the LORD
And the glory of His majesty,
When He arises to shake the earth mightily.
Sever yourselves from such a man,
Whose breath is in his nostrils;
For of what account is he?”
Isaiah 2:20-22

1. The day of the LORD of hosts.

b) But it would be a day of adoration of the Lord and His glorious majesty.

c) The LORD would come, and His presence would shake the earth mightily.

2. The reaction of those who reject the LORD in favour of idols.

a) They will cast away their idols.

i) Though they are made of costly silver.

ii) Or they are made of costlier gold.

iii) These were man-made objects of worship.

iv) They would be hastily cast away out of sight in the habitat of bats and moles.

b) They will seek to flee from the presence of the LORD.

i) They will hide in the clefts of rocks.

ii) They will hide in the crags of rugged rocks.

iii) But their efforts are futile for no one can hide from God.

3. Sound advice:

a) To sever relationship from those who lead people astray.

b) There need not be fear of any man, no matter how lofty he may seem to be.

c) What is man?

i) He is only a mere mortal who breathes.

ii) Of what significance is he when compared to the LORD of hosts?
