MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.”
Galatians 6:6
SUPPORT FOR THOSE WHO TEACH GOD’S WORD
1. The Lord Jesus called a number of people to be His Apostles.
a. They were called to be His Disciples.
b. They were then made Apostles.
2. The work of establishing the Church.
a. This was largely done by the Apostles.
b. Two outstanding Apostles may be named:
i. The Apostle Peter
ii. The Apostle Paul
c. Peter’s ministry was largely with Jews.
d. Paul’s ministry was with the Gentiles.
3. Other servants of God were raised up.
a. There were evangelists.
b. There were pastors/ teachers (Ephesians 4:11).
4. Paul wrote to the Galatians to step forward and support those who were full-time servants of God.
a. In Corinth, Paul had to make a living being a tent-maker (Acts 18).
b. The ministry was so much harder:
i. Making a living.
ii. Teaching God’s word.
iii. This was not ideal.
5. Paul’s appeal
a. There were many who came to believe in the Lord.
b. There were those who were deeply committed to teaching the Scriptures so that their faith would be strong and established.
c. Those who have benefitted from sound teaching ought to support those who have given their lives to the Lord:
i. In Evangelism.
ii. In building the believers in their faith.
iii. In establishing the church.
