Text: Galatians 6: 7-8
MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”
Galatians 6:7-8
SOWING AND REAPING
1. The imagery of sowing and reaping was easily understood.
2. This imagery was applied to the spiritual realm.
3. God is not mocked.
a. God is not deceived.
b. Whatever is truly sown, that would be reaped.
4. If a person sows to the flesh:
a. He is carnal.
b. He pursues carnality.
c. He will reap corruption (Galatians 5:19-21).
5. If a person sows to the Spirit:
a. He will indeed reap life everlasting.
b. He will see the fruit of the Spirit in life (Galatians 5:22-23).
SOME REASONS WHY PAUL BROUGHT THIS MATTER UP
1. The problem of false teaching had to be strenuously resisted.
a. These false teachers were teaching people, laws that were not helpful at all.
b. They focused on things of the flesh.
i. Keeping up with appearance.
ii. Doing things to win human applause.
c. The results of all their efforts would be spiritual ruin.
2. The challenge was to encourage believers:
a. To return to the Lord.
b. Tο return to the work of the Spirit.
c. The returns would be spiritually and eternally rewarding.
