Text: Galatians 6: 11-13

MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – SALVATION

“See with what large letters I have written to you with my own hand! As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh.”

Galatians 6:11-13

BOASTING IN THE FLESH

1. From the start to the end, Paul had to deal with the problem of the false teachers.

2. Paul’s writing:

a. Sometimes, he would use “an amanuensis”.

i. He is like a scribe who writes down what Paul dictates.

ii. He is like a personal assistant to the Apostle Paul.

b. At other times, Paul would write the Epistles/ Letters personally.

c. Galatians seems to have been written personally.

d. Paul declared that he wrote with his own hand.

3. Once again, he wrote about those who sought to get the Galatian men to be circumcised.

4. What were some of their reasons?

a. They wanted to make a good showing of the flesh.

b. They compel the men to be circumcised.

c. These false teachers were under pressure from their superiors.

d. They must get more to be circumcised or they themselves would be persecuted by their seniors.

5. The sad reality:

a. These false teachers emphasise the keeping of the Law.

b. But they themselves do not keep the Law.

c. They compel people to be circumcised so that they may boast of their “success”.

“请看我亲手写给你们的字是何等地大呢！凡希图外貌体面的人，都勉强你们受割礼，无非是怕自己为基督的十字架受逼迫。他们那些受割礼的，连自己也不守律法，他们愿意你们受割礼，不过要借着你们的肉体夸口。”

1．保罗从头到尾都必须处理假教师的问题

2．保罗的文字

a．有时，他会请人代笔

i．代笔的就像一个抄写员，把保罗的指示写下来

ii．他就像使徒保罗的私人助理

b．在其他时候，保罗会亲自写书信

c．加拉太书似乎是他亲自写的

d．保罗宣称他是亲笔写的

3．他再一次写到那些试图要加拉太人受割礼的人

4．他们的原因是什么？

a．他们希图外貌体面

b．他们强迫男人受割礼

c．这些假教师受到上级的压力

d．他们必须让更多男人受割礼，否则他们自己会受到上级的迫害

5．可悲的现实

a．这些假教师强调遵守律法

b．但他们自己不遵守律法

c．他们强迫人受割礼，以便他们可以吹嘘自己的“功劳”
