Text: Colossians 3: 18-21

MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – CHRISTOLOGY

“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.”

Colossians 3:18-21

FOCUS ON THE FAMILY

1. The family identified:

a. Husband

b. Wife

c. Parents (father)

d. Children

2. Each person in the family has certain roles to fulfil.

a. The challenge is to understand these roles.

b. And then to fulfil them.

3. The husband and wife relationship.

a. The role of the wife.

i. To practise submission.

ii. This means respect and regard for the husbands’ place in the family.

iii. This is fitting, in the Lord.

b. The role of the husband.

i. His part is to love the wife.

ii. There must be no bitterness in the heart.

4. Children

a. Children are to obey their parents in all matters that are good and wholesome.

b. This is well-pleasing to the Lord.

c. This is something that needs to be cultivated and practised.

5. Parents

a. Fathers are highlighted because of the major role they play.

b. They are not to provoke their children unwisely.

c. Provocation would only lead to discouragement.

The family would do well to devote time to cultivating and exercising their faith in the Lord Jesus!

i． 练习顺服

ii． 这意味着尊敬和尊重丈夫在家庭中的地位

iii. 这在主里是相宜的

b．丈夫的角色

i．他的职责是爱妻子

ii．不可苦待她们

4. 儿女

a．孩子们凡是好的和有益的事情都要听从父母

b．这是主所喜悦的

c. 这是需要培养和实践的

5. 父母

a．父亲的位置被强调，是因为他们扮演主要角色

b．他们不应该轻率地惹儿女的气

c. 挑衅只会导致沮丧

家人应该花时间培养和锻炼他们对主耶稣的信心！
