INTRODUCTION

1. There are many problems in life

a) Conflicts
b) Confusion

2. Can we still speak of blessings?

3. How may we find assurance of blessings from God?

WHEN TROUBLES INCREASE

1 LORD, how they have increased who trouble me!
Many are they who rise up against me.

2 Many are they who say of me,
“There is no help for him in God.”

Psalm 3:1-2

1. When problems do not get better

2. When troubles increase

a) Trials in life
b) Taunts that accompany
“There is no help for him in God.”

FACING TRIALS WITH FAITH

3 But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head.

4 I cried to the LORD with my voice,
And He heard me from His holy hill.

Psalm 3:3-4

1. Faith in the LORD

a) He is our Shield
b) He is our Glory
c) He is the One who lifts up our head

2. Seeking God in prayer

a) Crying out to the LORD
b) God hears the prayers offered

SUSTAINED BY THE LORD

5 I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.

6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who have set themselves against me all around.

Psalm 3:5-6

1. Able to sleep in peace

2. Awakened refreshed

3. Fear need not dominate and overwhelm

4. Being sustained is a special blessing from God

A PRAYER TO GOD TO SAVE

Arise, O LORD;
Save me, O my God!
For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone;
You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.

Psalm 3:7

1. A cry to God to respond

2. A prayer for salvation (deliverance)

3. An answer from God

a) He deals sternly with the wicked
b) He chastises the wicked

ASSURANCE OF GOD’S BLESSINGS

Salvation belongs to the LORD.
Your blessing is upon Your people.

Psalm 3:8

1. Salvation belongs to the LORD

a) He is sovereign
b) He is all powerful
c) He has the prerogative to grant salvation
d) Let us read the Scriptures to deepen our trust in God’s salvation

2. The Blessings of the LORD

a) They will be bestowed on His people
b) This is the confidence that we may have
Though the trials of life may not decrease
c) God’s blessings are not deterred because of problems

EXHORTATION

1. Deepening our Faith in God

Let us do all we can to deepen our faith in God

2. Improving our Prayer Life

Let us seek to improve our relationship with God

3. Let us develop our confidence in the LORD
